Logo Design

Logo Self-Assessment

1. Name of your company, a short paragraph describing what your company manufactures/sells and the target audience for the product.
I am the CEO of a new company, Lunar Cars. This company manufactures non-gasoline automobiles and are perfect for young adults that are concerned about the environment. These cars run off solar sun power and grease. All cars sold are used cars in tip top condition, we sell used cars to save supplies and apply the importance of recycling in our daily lives. Lunar cars are above the ordinary car, they are the car of the future. You will have the car of your dreams and feel good about helping the environment at the same time.

2. Review the processes that Jacob Cass went through in designing his logo and Logo Design Secrets (and any other links that you found especially helpful). What parts of these processes did you use in your work. Please explain and be specific.
I used Jacob Cass’s information to help me assess my logo and make sure I had all of the elements I needed. Some of the secrets I found useful to check was the if the logo was describable, memorable, effective without color, and effective when just an inch in size. These are Cass’s 5 ‘musts’ for a logo design and they helped me make sure my logo was finished.

3. Overall, what three important concepts have you learned about logo design? Explain why they are important to your future work?
By creating my own logo design I learned about the concepts of striving to be different, simple is sometimes better, and starting out right. All three of these concepts are very important for future work because they will ultimately help develop the outcome of my future final products. Using these concepts when designing help make sure your of the road to success.

4. Review the criteria and the process of designing a logo, please rate your final logo design, 1-4 (4 is the highest). Please explain why your work deserves the rating.
I believe my design deserves a 3. My design’s final outcome was a success, but there are a few minor flaws. The concept of my design were a little broad, because of that I wasn’t quite sure about the name of my company. Other than the concept of the design I believe I did successfully create a logo that will work for a company.

Logo Reflection

What significant changes has your logo gone through?
At the beginning my design was being taken over by a giant recycling symbol. After more time designing the final logo, I improved my design by not over powering the car by adding a more simple background design. Also I had way too much detail in my car in the beginning which took away from the design.

Why did you make these changes?
I made this major change to my design because I knew it would, in the end, really improve my design through all aspects. If I left the giant recycling symbol around my car I feel like it would be overpowering and not get my exact point across to the viewers. Getting rid of some of the detail in the car helped the simplicity of the design come through and will help the effectiveness of my design.

How much more work needs to go into the logo? What more do you need to do? (Please check criteria)
I feel like I need to pick out the small details in my logo that are not needed. Making my design more simple will help improve the overall outcome. I might want to work on my color drawing and make sure the colors I choose will work well with the company.

Quarter 3 Reflection

1. What are you most proud of? What do you think are your strengths?
I am most proud of my Text and Image designs. We started this project as one of our first designs on the computer. I was proud with my ability to adapt to the program quickly. My strength's are definitely my art fundamental skills that I learned in the first semester. These skills help my designs by giving a greater understanding of the basic art skills needed for design.

2. What would you like to do better and/or focus upon for Quarter four?
I hope to get better with photoshop and learn how to create more in-depth designs. I would like to focus on our own designs we want to make, and less of the logos. I didn’t enjoy making a creative logo for a company. If we could have a bit more freedom with our work, I believe I would enjoy design more.

3. How will you make this happen?
I hope to learn in class about more photoshop tools that are available to use in our designs. Also, I will try to be more patient with the program and try to not get overwhelmed with all the tools. Overall, I hope to receive a broader knowledge of tools and techniques to design.
