1. Which tessellation did you find more interesting to do? In what ways was it more interesting than the other? Please explain.
I found the triangular tessellation design more interesting. The rectangular tessellation was more more messy in a way. Doing the triangular tessellation all from the computer was easier and looks more interesting. Having to draw the rectangular tessellation on the computer was messy and made the overall design look worse than the triangular design.
2. Look at your peers' work on the ning. Which two designs do you find the most successful? What qualities make them so successful?
I find Samantha’s and Olivia’s triangular designs most successful. They both have the qualities that complement their overall tessellations. They clearly show the triangular shapes and combined very well. Samantha’s is interesting because of her simplicity to the design. Olivia’s is interesting because there are two clear different triangles that were formed when tessellated. Overall everyone’s triangular designs are more successful than their rectangular ones.
3. Looking at the Grading Criteria for each design, how would you rate BOTH designs on a scale of 1-4, 4 being the highest? Please explain each grade.
For the rectangular design I deserve a 3.5. The shape is original and the shape tessellates well. I lacked a bit of creativity, considering my shape didn’t really look like an animal of any kind. Other than that, my tessellation is appealing to the eye and deserves a 3.5 because of the above.
For the triangular design I deserve a 4. I followed the criteria of using an image from the photo ning. Also the overall look of the tessellation is very successful, because of the careful combination of the triangles. Together the triangles make a very interesting tessellation to look at. I believe I deserve a 4 because of all the above and the fact that I followed all of the instructions very well.
